An island built around one fruit
Guimaras is an island province in Western Visayas, in the Philippines. Known as Mango Island, it has a reputation closely tied to one fruit: the mango. That connection gives the island a memorable identity, whether you discover it through travel, food or its annual celebrations.
For anyone meeting the island for the first time, mango is a starting point — a way into a place, its growers and a food culture that celebrates what it produces.
A mango identity recognised by IPOPHL
On 13 May 2023, Guimaras Mango became the Philippines’ first registered geographical indication with the Intellectual Property Office of the Philippines (IPOPHL). The register covers fresh mangoes from the island province of Guimaras.
A geographical indication connects a product’s qualities, characteristics or reputation with a particular place. This recognition belongs to the registered fresh mango product; it is not a certification of PUSO’S hot sauce or a claim about where the mango in any bottle was sourced.
Manggahan: the island celebrates its mangoes
Guimaras celebrates its mango heritage through Manggahan Festival in May. The provincial government’s festival account describes activities and events that bring that identity into a shared celebration.
It is another reason the name Mango Island stays with people: the fruit is not simply something to eat, but part of how the island tells its story.
From island inspiration to tables everywhere
Mango Island gives PUSO’S its sense of place. Our mango hot sauce brings that inspiration to a product whose appeal starts with taste: mango body, bright tang, savoury depth and lively chili heat.
Try it with grilled fish, eggs, tacos, rice bowls or dumplings. The connection to Guimaras is part of our brand story; the flavour should feel at home on your table, wherever that table happens to be.
Made with Love
The heart in the PUSO’S emblem expresses care, and Made with Love is the statement that sits with it. Mango Island supplies the story’s setting; sharing good food gives it a life beyond the island.
